Summary: Perfect for us!
Comment: I read all the reviews and found all the positive reviews accurate. here's the bottom line as we found our topper after two trips between Fla and NC:

1. withstood southeastern rainstorm. have to keep zipper away from front as instructed...people who claim to have wet items.

2. very reasonable. one must consider you will lose between 2 to 5 mpg whether due to weight or drag.

3. very roomy. we packed a week's worth of clothes for 2 adults, 1 child, one baby plus tent, bedding, sleeping bag and fold-up chairs with room to spare!!! Before that, we inputted 3 dressers of clothes in it-- with the help of space saving bags and then some!

4. My wife loaded the topper and secured it on top of the 2002 Toyo Sienna, with only the help from the conveniently attached instructions, in 30 minutes.

5. We needed no add'l luggage rack modification for our 2002 Toyo Sienna.

6. My wife easily hadled the vehicle on I-95 thru the Ga plains at 75mph. Yes, Savannah copper, we got away with speeding in ur county! na na nee boo boo... maybe next time, Roscoe!

The Highland Soft Sided Car Top Carrier was a truly waterproof carrier and rode well and was very stable when placed between the existing standard roof rack on our Rav 4 Toyota. We traveled from New York State to Florida and at turnpike speeds without shift or displacement of any kind on the carrier.We used masking tape on the loose straps to eliminate the slapping at highway speeds.
The carrier did not,however, open on three sides as described.The Zipper opened up two sides which made it necessary to fold the cover back and stuff heavy items (in our case) into the pocket that was not open...pita style. Horsing heavy items around on the top of the car from the ground while also stuffing the pocket-like covered half of the carrier made using it a whole lot more difficult than if it had been manufactured as described.

Comment: I just purchased this for a trip to Disneyland. It held a full sized suitcase and five fairly large, stuffed to the max duffel bags. It was easy to install on top of my Chevy Tahoe and we experienced no wind or flapping noise described by other users. It folds up and stores easily....I'm so happy I'm not having to find a place to keep one of the hard plastic sided carriers when not using. I researched many cargo carriers and for the value this one is a winner.

Comment: This product was easy to install, easy to pack, and completely waterproof for our camping trip to the mountains. It rained for at least 3 hours of our 4 hour drive and the inside was totally dry. It held the tent, several folding chairs, and most of our camping supplies. Left plenty of room for the three dogs in the back of the truck. GREAT PRODUCT! I would buy it again in a second. P.S. I tied down the extra staps with zip ties.

Summary: highland car top carrier worked out great
Comment: I would have given this carrier a rating of a 5, however, I think something needs to be done with the zipper. It was a little tough getting in the front of it putting in your items, but we did pack it full. The zipper only goes along one side and the front. Maybe there is a reason for that I don't know. But this carrier made it from Indiana through Colorado, Utah and into Las Vegas with NO damage. Nothing was wet. Went through some snow/sleet in the mountains, lots of wind. It will look brand new when I wash it. But when using this, do use some safety pins to tie down the straps. Great for the $$$$$
