Customer Reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: Worthless Comment: This thing is completely worthless. Tried it on a few discs, and it didn't make a bit of difference. The cleaning also didn't do anything, I still had to clean by hand after running it through the cleaning cycle. If I could have given it 0 stars I would have! Customer Rating: Summary: Returned DVD's to life after toddler torture test Comment: Ok, I see a lot of negative reviews here and I really have to wonder if people just don't know how to follow the directions. I have used this on DOZENS of DVD's, that would NOT play at all after my 3 year old put several different scratches on them, and returned them to fully functional. It took discs that would just freeze and not play and returned them to totally playable. Some that I thought were beyond repair and will play with VERY minor skips that don't affect movie play.
There are two different sets of pads that require two separate solutions. It works on the same exact principal as all the other high end cleaners. . Look around (I bought this 3 or 4 years ago) but for the money this is as good as you can get ( this assumes that you can read at a 5th grade level and follow instructions ). Customer Rating: Summary: Great product well worth the money Comment: How much do I like this product?
Enough that when I needed the refill kit I trudged to Wal Mart in a snow storm; then trudged to K Mart when Wal Mart didn't stock them anymore, and then hopped onto Amazon and ordered 2.
In looking for the refill kit I noticed the rash of negative reviews for the Optifix pro system itself and was really astonished.
I don't know what to say other than my strong suspicion is there was a concerted effort to drag down the rating on this product by a group with an agenda; or that a lot of people just aren't following the directions.
I've fixed enough $60 XBox 360 games for my Optifix to pay for itself 30x+ over. I've owned it for nearly 2 years and am just now on my first refill kit.
I wouldn't think of buying another repair/cleaning product unless I could no longer get refills for the Optifix.
What else can I say? I'm the Dad repairing an awful lot of games for 8-year old twin boys and I'm perfectly happy with the Optifix Pro. The negative reviews of the product really leave me perplexed. Customer Rating: Summary: Worthless garbage Comment: Does nothing. leaves smudges to be removed with a cloth on cleaning. so it doesn't remove scratches and it does a half asked cleaning job. This thing makes a tee shirt and tooth paste look like break through technology. Customer Rating: Summary: Garbage Comment: Normally I check reviews before buying any electronic. But we are going on the road tomorrow and I wanted to fix the kids DVDs before then. I go to Target and get this for $20.
Absolute waste of money! The DVDs have gone from playing but pausing/freezing from scratches, to not playing at all. Since I foolishly trusted this product to be worthwhile, three DVDs are toast now, thanks Memorex!
You can bet two things:
A. I'm not buying any electronic without looking it up first.
B. Memorex is going to get a steady stream of complaints.
